Lacaille gave eleven stars in the constellation Bayer designations, using the Greek alphabetto label them Alpha through to Lambda Mensae (excluding Kappa). Gould later added Kappa, Mu, Nu, Xi and Pi Mensae. Stars as dim as these were not generally given designations; however, Gould felt their closeness to the South Celestial Pole warranted their naming.[1] Alpha Mensae is the brightest star with a barely visible apparent magnitude of 5.09,[8] making it the only constellation with no star above magnitude 5.0.[9] Overall, there are 22 stars within the constellation's borders brighter than or equal to apparent magnitude 6.5.[b][5]
  • Beta Mensae is slightly fainter at magnitude 5.31.[17] Located 660 ± 10 light-years from Earth,[11] it is a yellow giant of spectral type G8III, around 3.6 times as massive and 513 times as luminous as the Sun. It is 270 million years old,[20] and lies in front of the Large Magellanic Cloud.[17]
  • Zeta and Eta Mensae have infrared excesses suggesting they too have circumstellar disks of dust.[21][22] Zeta Mensae is an ageing white giant of spectral type A5 III around 394 ± 4 light-years from Earth,[23][11] and Eta Mensae is an orange giant of spectral type K4 III,[22] lying 650 ± 10 light-years away from Earth.[11]
  • Pi Mensae is a solar-type (G1) star 59.62 ± 0.07 light-years distant.[11] In 2001, a substellar companion was discovered in an eccentric orbit.[24] Incorporating more accurate Hipparcos data yields a mass range for the companion to be anywhere from 10.27 to 29.9 times that of Jupiter. This confirms its substellar nature with the upper limit of mass putting it in the brown dwarf range.[25] The discovery of a second substellar companion—a Super-Earth—was announced on 16 September 2018. It takes 6.27 days to complete its orbit and is the first exoplanet detected by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) submitted for publication.

Initially known as Mons Mensae, Mensa was created by Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille out of dim Southern Hemisphere stars in honor of Table Mountain, a South African mountain overlooking Cape Town, near the location of Lacaille's observatory. He recalled that the Magellanic Clouds were sometimes known as Cape clouds, and that Table Mountain was often covered in clouds when a southeasterly stormy wind blew. Hence he made a "table" in the sky under the clouds.[1] Lacaille had observed and catalogued 10,000 southern stars during a two-year stay at the Cape of Good Hope. He devised 14 new constellations in uncharted regions of the Southern Celestial Hemisphere not visible from Europe. Mensa was the only constellation that did not honor an instrument that symbolised the Age of Enlightenment.[2] Sir John Herschel proposed shrinking the name to one word in 1844, noting that Lacaille himself had abbreviated some of his constellations thus.[3]
Although the stars of Mensa do not feature in any ancient mythology, the mountain it is named after has a rich mythology. Called "Tafelberg" in Dutch and German, it has two neighboring mountains called "Devil's Peak" and "Lion's Head". Table Mountain features in the mythology of the Cape of Good Hope, notorious for its storms. Explorer Bartolomeu Dias saw the mountain as a mythical anvil for storms. Another myth relating to its dangers comes from Sinbad the Sailor, an Arabic folk hero who saw it as a magnet pulling his ships to the bottom of the sea.

Telecom Regulatory authority of India was established on 20 February 1997 by an Act of Parliament to regulate telecom services and tariffs in India. Earlier regulation of telecom services and tariffs was overseen by the Central Government. The current Chairman of TRAI is Ram Sewak Sharma.
TRAI's mission is to create and nurture conditions for growth of telecommunications in India to enable the country to have a leading role in the emerging global information society.[2]
One of its main objectives is to provide a fair and transparent environment that promotes a level playing field and facilitates fair competition in the market. TRAI regularly issues orders and directions on various subjects such as tariffs, interconnections, quality of service, Direct To Home (DTH) services and mobile number portability .
In January 2016, TRAI introduced an important change in telecommunication that would benefit all consumers. Effective from 1 January 2016, consumers will be compensated for call drops. However, there is a catch, per the rule, mobile users will get a compensation of Re 1 for every dropped call but it will be limited to a maximum three dropped calls in a day. This regulation has been quashed by Supreme Court on the ground of being "unreasonable, arbitrary and unconstitutional".[3]

SecretariatEdit

TRAI is administered through a Secretariatheaded by a secretary. All proposals are processed by the secretary, who organises the agenda for Authority meetings (consulting with the Chairman), prepares the minutes and issues regulations in accordance to the meetings. The secretary is assisted by advisors. These include Mobile Network, Interconnection and Fixed Network, BroadBand and Policy Analysis, Quality of Service, Broadcasting & Cable Services, Economic Regulation, Financial Analysis & IFA, Legal, Consumer Affairs & International Relation and Administration & Personnel. Officers are selected from the Indian Telecommunications Service and the Indian Administrative Service.[4]

TRAI Mobile AppsEdit

On 06 June 2017, TRAI launched three new apps and a web portal to ensure that the Indian users are fully aware of the telecom services that are being offered to them.
Mycall app, MySpeed app and 'Do not disturb (DND 2.0)' apps are now going to educate and ensure that there is transparency - between what consumers are actually paying for and what telecom operators are promis

The CPRR's caboose was stored in a special barn where Disney monitored and controlled the CPRR's track.[12][26] The barn's design was based on a set piece for the 1949 Disney film So Dear to My Heart, and it brought back Disney's childhood memories of a similar barn on his family farm in Marceline, Missouri.[28][29] The barn had a centralized traffic control board, which had several lights designed to indicate the presence of trains along the railroad's route.[12] The CPRR's switches could also be electrically controlled from this board.[12]
Articles about the CPRR appeared in several magazines, including the September 1951 issue of Look magazine.[18][30] These articles attracted visitors interested in the CPRR to the home of Disney, who invited them to ride and occasionally drive his miniature train.[18][31]With a tractive effort of more than 2,000 pounds-force (8,900 N), the Lilly Belle could pull a train with up to 12 adult passengers.[23]Due to its lack of brakes, the locomotive was sent in reverse if it ever needed to stop quickly.[20][32] In early 1953, a visitor drove the Lilly Belle too fast along a curve, causing it to derail.[33] As a result, the Lilly Belle fell on its side, broke its whistle, and released a jet of steam across the ground.[33] A curious five-year-old girl ran through the steam jet, which left minor burns on her legs.[33] As a result of this incident, Disney, fearing the possibility of future accidents, closed down the CPRR and stored the locomotive in the studio's machine shop.[33][34] Disney removed the Carolwood Pacific Railroad's track in 196

Walt Disney, the owner of the Carolwood Pacific Railroad, was a rail enthusiast.[1][2] As a young boy, he wanted to become a train engineer like his father's cousin, Mike Martin, who drove main-line trains on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.[3][4] Disney's father worked as part of a track installation crew for the Union Pacific Railroad.[3] As a teenager, Disney worked as a news butcher on the Missouri Pacific Railway, where he sold newspapers, candy, cigars, and other products on trains.[5] He sometimes climbed over the tender and into the locomotive's cab while the train was in motion.[5][6] After he bribed the engineer and fireman with chewing tobacco, they showed him how to operate the locomotive.[5][6]
Disney renewed his interest in trains after injuries forced him to stop playing polo.[7]Seeking a calmer recreational activity, he purchased several Lionel train sets in late 1947.[7] By 1948, his interest in model trains was evolving into an interest in larger, ridable miniature trains after observing the trains and backyard railroad layouts of several hobbyists.[8] These hobbyists included Disney animator Ollie Johnston, who had a ridable miniature railroad, as well as Disney animator Ward Kimball, who owned the full-size, 3 ft(914 mmnarrow-gauge Grizzly Flats Railroad.[8][9]
On June 1, 1949, Disney purchased 5 acres (2.0 ha) of vacant land in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles.[10] The property consisted of a bluff, which was 2 acres (0.8 ha) in size, and a level shelf of land behind it, which Disney named Yensid Valley.[11][12] The word Yensid is Disneyspelled backwards.[12] Disney purchased this land to build a new family home with an elaborate backyard railroad behind it.[10] Plans for the railroad's layout included 2,615 feet (797 m) of 7 14-inch (184 mm) gauge track with eleven switches, as well as gradientsoverpasses, a trestle, and an elevated dirt berm.[13][14] The layout would completely surround the house.[14] Disney's wife, Lillian Disney, objected to the plan that part of the layout be built in an area where she intended to plant a flower garden.[14] As a compromise, Disney had an S-curve tunnel built underneath the spot where the garden was eventually planted.[15] Aided by a Walt Disney Studios attorney, Disney had a tongue-in-cheek legal contract written to establish his right to own and operate the railroad's right of
